Ditch tilt controls in Neon Drift League immediately

May 21, 2026 · Lukas Brenner

Neon Drift League defaults to tilt steering, and I think that's a mistake for most players. Tilt on a phone is fiddly — you're wobbling the screen while trying to read a fast track, and it never feels precise.

Head into settings and switch to on-screen buttons before you do anything else. The difference is night and day. Suddenly your drifts are intentional and your boost chains actually land where you aimed them.

Speaking of drifts, don't tap the brake to initiate — hold it into the corner and release on exit. Holding builds a longer drift, which builds more boost. Short taps waste the corner entirely.

Once you learn a track's rhythm, chain your drifts corner to corner and you'll basically fly. Each car handles differently, so if one feels twitchy, try another before assuming the controls are bad. They're good — you just need the right setup.
